At Knollwood Retirement Community, we believe exceptional senior care begins with compassionate hearts, continual learning, and a commitment to growing alongside the residents we serve. During both Supportive Living Week and Nurses Week, we are especially proud to recognize two dedicated team members, Juliet and Mara, for representing Knollwood at the Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Seminar during the Illinois Supportive Living Week Conference.
Their participation reflects Knollwood’s ongoing commitment to advancing dementia care education, strengthening supportive living services, and enhancing quality of life for seniors throughout St. Clair County and the Metro East community.
Juliet, one of our dedicated nurses, is also Montessori Certified in Dementia Care, a specialized approach focused on preserving dignity, encouraging independence, and creating meaningful engagement for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Montessori-based dementia care recognizes each resident as a person first, not a diagnosis, helping residents remain connected, purposeful, and empowered through personalized care and meaningful daily experiences.
Alongside Juliet, Knollwood CNA Mara attended the seminar to expand her knowledge surrounding dementia care, supportive living best practices, and the future of senior healthcare services. At Knollwood Retirement Community, continuing education is not simply encouraged; it is woven into the culture of care. We know that when caregivers continue learning, residents benefit every single day through stronger relationships, enhanced support, and more compassionate care experiences.
Supportive Living Week serves as an important reminder that supportive living is about so much more than assistance with daily activities. It is about preserving joy, fostering connection, upholding dignity, and helping residents continue to live with purpose and independence. Knollwood is proud to be part of Illinois’ Supportive Living community and its continued efforts to expand person-centered memory care and dementia care services for local seniors and families.
As we also celebrate Nurses Week, we extend heartfelt gratitude to our fantastic nursing team and all the other incredible nurses out there. Nurses are often the calm during uncertain moments, the comforting voice during difficult days, and the steady hands that care for others with incredible patience, professionalism, and resilience. Whether someone is cheerful, confused, frightened, frustrated, or simply having a hard day, nurses continue showing up with empathy, grace, and kindness because caring for others is truly at the heart of what they do.
To all nurses, CNAs, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, thank you for the countless ways you serve seniors and families each day. And to Juliet and Mara, thank you for representing Knollwood Retirement Community with such passion, dedication, and commitment to lifelong learning and exceptional dementia care. Your leadership helps ensure our residents continue receiving the compassionate, knowledgeable, and person-centered care they deserve.
