Resident Spotlight: Honoring Roy Cooper — Dean of the Knollwood Retirement Community

Honoring Roy Cooper

At Knollwood, we believe a community is defined by the people who fill its halls with warmth, laughter, and stories of resilience. Few embody this spirit more than Roy Cooper, a cherished Navy veteran, a beloved neighbor, and one of Knollwood’s original founding members.

A Life of Service and Heroism

Before becoming the “Dean of the Building,” Roy served our country with distinction in the United States Navy. His dedication, courage, and quiet heroism remind us daily of the sacrifices made by those who wear the uniform. Roy’s military service reflects the same qualities we value most at Knollwood: honor, commitment, and a selfless spirit.

A Pillar Since the Beginning

Knollwood opened its doors on October 11, and since 2012, Roy Cooper has been a steadfast part of its heart and history. As one of our earliest residents, Roy has seen Knollwood grow from its earliest days into the vibrant, caring community it is today. While certainly not the oldest by age, Roy has the distinction of being the resident that has had the longest continuous residency at Knollwood and by the profound impact he has had on everyone who has crossed his path.

Affectionately known as the “Dean of the Building,” Roy’s presence brings a sense of continuity and family. His wisdom and kindness have touched countless fellow residents and team members alike.

A Community that Honors its Heroes

At Knollwood, we are proud to be home to many who have given so much in service to our country and our communities.
